Welcome to the Providence City Council website.

Here you will find information about the activities and initiatives of the legislative branch of Providence’s government. From Council meetings to neighborhood meetings, the members of the City Council are committed to taking action to improve the quality of life for every Providence resident.

Providence has vast cultural, artistic, and historical assets, which the Council seeks to enhance as we move forward, conducting the business of the people with integrity, transparency, and efficiency.

The deadline for lobbyists to file with the City Clerk in accordance with the recently passed Lobbyist Registration ordinance has been moved from May 16th to July 1st to allow time for the Council to consider some minor changes.

Today, the Commission to Study Revenue Sustainability and Effectiveness will hold its first meeting at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Council President Michael A. Solomon and Majority Leader Seth Yurdin sent a letter to Providence Public Library Chair, Dr. William Simmons, requesting the PPL to initiate a process for conveying all seven of its branch libraries to Providence Community Library.

Thursday, May 5th, the Providence City Council will introduce a package of ordinances implementing the recommendations of the Corrective Action Plan to Restore Sound Financial Management.
