Welcome to the Providence City Council website.

Here you will find information about the activities and initiatives of the legislative branch of Providence’s government. From Council meetings to neighborhood meetings, the members of the City Council are committed to taking action to improve the quality of life for every Providence resident.

Providence has vast cultural, artistic, and historical assets, which the Council seeks to enhance as we move forward, conducting the business of the people with integrity, transparency, and efficiency.

Providence City Council

Councilman Nicholas J. Narducci, Jr., Ward 4, sent a letter last week to Superintendent of Providence Public Schools, Thomas Brady, requesting that the department’s maintenance division inspect the roofs of all City schools.

Providence City Council President Michael Solomon and Providence City Council Majority Leader Seth Yurdin announced the appointment of Jacob “Jake” Bissaillon as chief of staff for the Providence City Council today.

The seven Council members-elect will gather at City Hall on December 7th, for an orientation designed to give an overview of several of the offices and issues councilors will be interacting with on a daily basis after they take office in January. 

On Saturday, December 18, 2010, Councilman-elect Michael Correia (Ward Six), Councilman Michael Solomon (Ward Five), Representative-elect Ray Hull (District Six), Senator Frank Ciccone (District 7), and Attorney General Patrick Lynch, along with the District Six Community Police, and Providence Crime Watch will host the Annual Christmas Toy Gun Bash. This event will take place at Pleasant View School (50 Obediah Brown Road) from 11 am to 3 pm.
