Welcome to the Providence City Council website.

Councilman John J. Igliozzi (Ward 7), announced that the first phase of the “Neighborhoods First,” program is underway in his ward.

Ward Eight Councilman Leon Tejada announced that the Ramon Matias Mella Softball League will open its 2010 season under the brand new lights at Bucklin Park on Thursday, May 6th. Tejada, who helped secure funds for the various improvements in the park, including $27,000 for the lights, will be attending the kick off event which is open to the public.

At tomorrow’s City Council meeting, Ward One Councilman Seth Yurdin will introduce a resolution calling on the General Assembly and the Department of Public Works to enact measures ensuring that those who produce products bear the costs of recycling and responsible disposal of those products. This type of policy, known as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), has been instituted in 21 states including Rhode Island to require manufacturers to pay for the collection and recycling of e-waste like computers and televisions.

Councilman Miguel Luna – Ward 9 announced two upcoming informational meetings to review the findings and recommendations of a major traffic study recently completed for the Washington Park and Elmwood sections of Ward 9.
