Council President Pro Tempore Terrence M. Hassett, who represents Ward 12, announced that traffic calming measures will be implemented in the coming weeks on several Smith Hill streets.

The City Council announced the hire of Sullivan and Company to conduct a third party audit of Providence’s disability pension system.

Councilman Miguel C. Luna passed away this afternoon at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his three children, Dante, 13, Sofie, 11, and Omar 9; his mother Mireya; his four sisters, Ysa, Belkiss, Josefina and Teresa; his brother Antonio; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Council President Pro Tempore Terrence M. Hassett, who represents Ward 12, issued a statement today expressing his congratulations to Jim Bennett, the new Economic Development Director selected by Mayor Taveras.
