Councilman Seth Yurdin | Ward 1
Seth Yurdin was first elected to represent Ward One of Providence in 2006. Councilman Yurdin was re-elected in 2010 and 2014. He represents Fox Point, Downtown, and parts of the Wayland and College Hill neighborhoods.
During the 2011-2015 term, he served as Majority Leader of the Council and was Chairman of the Committee on Ordinances.
Councilman Yurdin has pushed for more open and transparent city government and continues to advocate for neighborhood quality of life, the environment, public health, and public education.
Prior to his election, Councilman Yurdin was a Fox Point Citizens Association board member, monitoring the I-195 development and encouraging community participation in the planning process.
Councilman Yurdin is a volunteer shelter manager, and has assisted with the American Red Cross’s response in Mississippi immediately after Hurricane Katrina, and with the Providence Emergency Management Agency.
Councilman Yurdin holds degrees from Boston University and New York University School of Law. He is an attorney in private practice.
