Welcome to Ward 5. Ward 5 represents the
Councilman Michael Solomon was first elected in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010 to represent the Elmhurst and Mount Pleasant neighborhoods.
Councilman Solomon was elected Council President for the 2011-2015 term. He is one of two councilmanic members of the Providence Water Supply Board.
Inspired from a young age by his father, Anthony Solomon, who served six terms as Rhode Island’s General Treasurer, Michael Solomon carries on his family’s tradition of public service. He was appointed to the Providence Redevelopment Agency in 1992, and has been involved in civic and political organizations his entire life.
Additionally, he is a local business owner—he is the proprietor of the popular and successful Wes’ Rib House in Olneyville, as well as Cozy Catering. He is a member of the Olneyville Business Association and the National Restaurant Association, as well as the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce.
A lifelong resident of Providence, Councilman Solomon resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife Denise. He is the proud father of three daughters, and has recently become a grandfather.
