Correia to Host National Night Out on August 5th

On August 5th, Councilman Michael Correia (Ward Six) will host Providence’s annual National Night Out celebration. National Night Out is a nationwide event that brings residents together with community leaders and public safety officials to build trusting relationships and bolster neighborhood pride. This is the third consecutive year that Councilman Correia has sponsored this event.
”I invite all residents of Providence and the surrounding area to come and support this great cause,” said Councilman Michael Correia. “Getting to know our elected officials and public safety personnel is crucial to improving many of the quality of life issues that affect us daily. I especially encourage parents to bring their children and introduce them to our fire, police and emergency personnel, in case their assistance is ever needed.”
The celebration will feature activities and demonstrations, led by police officers and firefighters, teaching young people important lessons about public safety. Additionally, there will be many family friendly activities for children to enjoy, including music, food, drinks, a bounce house, and a giant slide. This year’s National National Night Out is co-sponsored by Mayor Angel Taveras, Council President Michael Solomon, Senator Paul Jabour, Senator Frank Ciccone, Representative Raymond Hull, Sodexho, Aramark, the Providence Emergency Management Agency, the Fire Department, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the District Six Community Police Station.

The National Night Out will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm. George J. West Park is located at 1276 Chalkstone Avenue, near the corner of Chalkstone and Mount Pleasant Avenues.
